形態特徵

Evergreen trees to 20 m high, 80 cm across, straight; branchlets brownish.
Leaves somewhat resembling those of Castanopsis cuspidata var. carlesii f. sessilis in appearance, usually oblong, 6–10 cm long, 2–3 cm wide, acuminate to caudate at apex, acute to obtuse and very oblique or asymmetrical at base, entire to obscurely serrate from middle to apex, glabrous on both sides, lateral veins 8–10 pairs; petioles 0.3–1.3 cm long, callose-thickened at base.
Staminate catkins somewhat pendulous, flowers 2 mm long, 1.5 mm wide; perianth 6-cleft, glabrous outside, hairy inside; stamens 8–12, filaments 1.8 mm long, anthers 0.3 mm long, longitudinally dehiscent. Involucre 1.9 mm long, l.5 mm wide. Pistillate flowers 1.5 mm long, 0.8 mm wide; perianth 6-lobed, somewhat hairy outside; ovary with 3 styles, stigmas obtuse-pointed.
Cupules cup-shaped, 0.5–0.6 cm long, 0.9 cm across, scales free, imbricate, cuspidate-triangular, keeled above, sericeous-pubescent outside;nut 1, ovoid, 1 cm long, 0.8 cm across. nut 1.

分布

台灣 : in forests at low altitudes, from 300–1,200 m, commonly found in such places as Wulai in the north, Shueili, Wushe and Lienhuachih in the center, Shuangliu and Tawu in the south.
世界 : Distributed in S China.
